Diva Challenge #242...

My Diva challenge #242 The final version

Weekly Challenge #242: "New Official Tangle: "Gourdgeous"
Over the weekend Zentangle HQ released their new official tangle called Gourdgeous in their newsletter.  So the Diva has asked us to try out the new official tangle! You can view the newsletter with the step outs HERE

So I added a Diva Dance Rock-n-Roll.
But still it needed more

This what I had in mind when I started....but then when I created it it just seemed unfinished
to me.

Diva Challenge 241....

My (Lee Darter) Diva Challenge 241....I have to say this has been one of my favorite challenges so far. I loved learning something new, I love the stacked stones, and I really enjoyed drawing this challenge! Yeah!

This is the inspiration photo for my (Lee Darter) Diva 241 challenge.

Verne Foster's Diva Challenge 241

With guest blogger  Paula Bramante CZT 15 Paula's blog is --- http://stringsandaurasczt.blogspot.com/
I (Lee Darter) am also a CZT 15 !!! Paula encourages us to try using Rankin’s cairn template as a string for this week’s challenge or trust in your intuition as you move toward your own vision of stones and ceremony with pen in hand and blank tile before you.  To be honest I did not know what cairn was....so I Googled it---
A cairn is a human-made pile (or stack) of stones. The word cairn comes from the Scottish Gaelic: càrn (plural càirn).

A cairn to mark a mountain summit in Graubünden,Switzerland.
From Wikipedia.com
Cairns are used as trail markers in many parts of the world, in uplands, on moorland, on mountaintops, near waterways and on sea cliffs, as well as in barren deserts and tundra. They vary in size from small stone markers to entire artificial hills, and in complexity from loose conical rock piles to delicately balanced sculptures and elaborate feats of megalithic engineering. Cairns may be painted or otherwise decorated, whether for increased visibility or for religious reasons. Cairns as explained by Wikipedia

Okay so now I am really into this!
An awesome artist I discovered on my Cairn adventure is Michael Grab.
Is work is absolutely amazing, if you have not seen it before please check him out.

Diva Challenge 239....

My 239 Diva Challenge

Verne Foster's Diva challenge 239.....I love the wavy things on the end of your Munchin Verne!

Verne Foster Diva challenge 239 on White on Black

The challenge this week is based on a demonstration video by Molly Hollibaugh.
The diva says "I had seen the step outs for Munchin many times and I never really took to it, until I saw Molly demonstrate it, back when I was certified in 2010.  I don't know why, but seeing it demonstrated really helped me get it".

So the challenge this week is... to use Molly's tangle Munchin.
If you want the added challenge of using white on black, feel free to do that as well.
The Diva goes on to confess..."I am not a huge fan of the black tiles. There, I said it.
I've been holding this in for years.  But it's true.  Now, don't get me wrong.  I still use them, but - i just don't like the way they perform as compared to the white tiles.  I miss the drag of the micron pen and the black tiles are very porous and the gel pen sorta gets sucked into the paper leaving the white looking sort of washed out".
Me (Lee Darter) personally...I love the White Gelly on black...love everything about it. But I do now some tanglers out that feel the same way as the Diva.....but I am not one one them, I have a whole journal just for black paper with a white Gelly!

Diva Challenge #237

Dive Challenge #237 by Lee Darter

Dive challenge by guest blogger Charlotte Carpentier, CZT owner of CharKat’s Creative Insanity, in Temecula, California. I am honored to say Charlotte edited a letter I wrote recently
...thank you again Charlotte.
We were asked to find something to use for a stencil, gather your dye and spray, sponge, Q-Tip, etc. and make yourself a string. I used a stencil I got from Donna Downey Studios while I was there this week taking a jewelry taught by Stephanie Lee. It was awesome!

Diva Challenge 236 an Unexpected Surface....

Diva challenge #236 by me...Lee Darter Tangle on an unexpected serface...

Lessons learned on this challenge 1. Some maps have a coating that destroy Microns, I lost 3 doing this project. 2. When you get a feeling about something go with it.... I found an old atlas that I thought would work as art some how. The next day I read the Diva challenge.  3. Pay attention to what you are doing when you are doing it ---Mindfulness! I put the letters in the wrong place. Just because north is up does not necessarily make it north! I guess according to the map it is up but the way I drew the arrows is off just a little and I think if I had set the letters above the arrows it would have made it artistically look better. Or maybe I should have paid more attention when I put the arrows on. 4. Look for happiness in what ever you are doing. This project frustrated me for so many reasons this week. I am also trying to finish the newsletter for  my charity so I have had to squeeze it in. I do not enjoy have to squeeze in Zentangle, I mean I really only want to do tangle all the time. But I did have a great time imagining how wonderful it would be to visit all the place on the map! As I was drawing over the names of awesome places I was envisioning what they might look like and how I would dress if I went there. Places like the Navaho Indian Reservation or Escalante Desert, Rainbow Bridge National Monument and of course Monument Valley.

Diva Challenge 235....

Diva Challenge 235 by Lee Darter
I wanted to try a little water color with this one.

Diva Challenge 235... the rest of the story! I am really not one to make excuses but on top of being a Zentangle teacher I am a art teacher in an elementary school, I am the president of a charity and I run my own business as well as creating my own art. So I am getting a little behind on my Diva challenges these past few weeks since school started. I will post the rest of the work as soon as I finish!

Diva Challenge 229...

Diva Challenge 229

The guest blogger this week is Sandy Hunter...Sandy has asked us to leave some negative (white) space for the eye to rest. Shift your focus to the negative space, so the white part of your tile is the focus of your tangle.  I think I may have gone over-board on the white space....It's glaring at me!

By Verne Foster-This is my negative space  "chocolate divide".

I am the guest blogger for the Diva this week July 20th, 2015. I am so honored that Laura has allowed me this time with her awesome challenge followers. The challenge is based on my trip to Anna Maria Island, Florida with my family and friends. We went to the Ringling Circus Museum and I was inspired by the art and architecture of the place-the Zentangle possibilities are endless!
