YAM--What Art Means To Me Art Contest...2017

Each year in March, which is Youth Art Month we have a "What art Means to Me" contest.

These are the 2017 winners.

1st place winner! 

For Youth Art Month we had a contest... Complete a work of art with the theme "What Art Means to Me" 

March is YOUTH ART MONTH....

One event for this year's YAM is an open art call for all Cedar Point students. 

The show's topic is: "What art means to me". 
All finished works will be hung on the YAM gallery bulletin board. 
On a 8 x 11 inch sheet of white paper, students are to create a work of art in any medium with the theme 

"What Art Means To Me". 

The dead line is March 18th,  2016

Another thing we am doing this year is having a 5th grade student (Jacob C.) make daily morning announcements about art, art history and artists. Jacob will hold up art for the camera, dress up like an artist and use other art supplies in a fun and whimsical ways to get everyone involved in art.

There were hundreds of entries and the top 3 places went to Cedar Point in the Elementary division. Why yes... that is my school. The second place winner was even considered for the Grand prize Flag entry. I am so proud of these three girls. And all the entries from Cedar Point, they were all so good!

YAM book Judging Day...2015

Spent the day with Jess Beach the fantastic leader of the Virginia YAM committee.

We were at her house, what an awesome place. I want to move out there with her. This view is the reason I am starting to fall in love with Virginia!
