Notan With a Twist...
Adding Bubbles and Dots
First you cut a regular black and white Notan
Then you print with gray tempera paint on bubble wrap
After the gray dots dry use a single neon color applied with a cotton stick to make dots on top of the gray dots but only to the gray dots in the box.
Order cotton sticks HERE
This girl did not print gray dots inside the box...that's okay, we make it work by adding the neon dots to the flipped parts outside the box instead of inside the box.
Blow dry your neon dots...
Then using a dot tool
I ordered these Nail Dot Tools and they work great.
I keep my paint in egg cartons and store the egg cartons in lard 2 1/2 gallon zip lock bags
I put the used cotton sticks in Edgar. Edgar is a wig foam stand.

3rd Grade Notans on Brusho Painted Paper...
Brusho is a power you sprinkle on the paper....
Then mist with water
A little goes a very long way!
Brusho both a 12 x 18 inch and a 6 x 12 inch 90# sheet of white paper or this project
Select a neon color for your Notan
Start cutting out shapes and flip them over and glue the shapes in place but not the larger rectangle.
Make sure to like up the rectangle with each shape before you glue the shapes in place.
You can order Brusho at Dick Blick - just click on the link below
Professional Development Day Using Brusho...
We got to play with these cool paint powders at our professional development day. Yes...our art director is awesome. I never heard of them before let alone used them. But now I am a fan. I bought my own set from Dick Blick as soon as I got home.
I put it out there to my art teacher group and others have used it and seem to like it. Here is a beautiful piece using Brusho by Charlene Lear.
And another by Sandy. I still can't believe I have never hear of these before!
