Day 72
Started off Summer break with a water main break at the house...have not had water in 5 days. Going to the gym to take showers. Hubby says thank goodness we live in the woods. I say thank goodness we live very close to a McDonalds!
I have been letting my hair grow out for 3 years now. I would like to have long, gray spiral curled hair. The problem is my hair is very, very, painfully very straight. So after waiting all this time and being the last day of school I was ready for a change. I went to have my hair permed.....after 3 years and $300. This is what I asked for...
This is what I got
Not the color but the curl...Granted those girls do not have gray hair....and could be my daughters but that is not the point here.... What curl you might ask is the point...that's right what curl? My hair looks like that when I get out of the ocean, I can get that for free....So I got a store credit for the non perm and we will try again in Aug. My BFF said maybe it was because of the gray hairs but the brown ones did not curl either.
Ended the year with a baby shower for the music teacher at school. He and his wife are expecting their first child. He also got promoted to intern principal and will be leaving us. He has been an awesome friend and coworker. Matt you will be missed at Cedar Point, not just by me but by everyone at the school! Good luck on your new adventures!
Collected crayons for a friend who has cancer. She takes the crayons and melts them to make heart and star shaped crayons to give to kids in the hospital. Pretty awesome right. This is the massive collection donated by all the teachers and parents at my too cool school!
This is a photo of my sad little art room all cleaned and really for summer vacation. There are only 2 times a year my room is clean...the last day of school and the first. After that...it is an art room put to good use and gets quite messy! You can see the new art ceiling tiles up there, that was so much fun to do! I feel like I just set my room up, this has been the fastest year ever.
My step dad Bob. Bob raised me, he adopted me when I was in the second grade. I have always been able to talk to him and work out most of life's dilemmas with him. In this photo he is visiting me at the beach house and we are about to go jet skiing. This was 3 years ago I believe. He is very sick now and I can not talk to him about all the things I need to share. I do not think he will be coming back to the beach house and that makes me very sad. Love you dad!
I think this has been a huge problem for me...I can not commit to one thing or even two. But from this moment on that is may plan...I am committed to teaching art, the charity, getting my own studio and my Phd. That is a lot of commitment. But I need and will focus on the things that move me forward and not dwell on the things that are not adding to my goals and my commitment to those goals.
Not sure who this is or where the photo came from now I have had it a little while but
this is what I would like to have in a personal studio...space to create and teach and hang stuff on the walls.

That's the craziest perm story I've ever seen! Hard to believe you went through the whole process and got no result! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI know right ! I have wanted that for so long...Although I love your long, gray, straight art too Phyl!
