Today's Art Room Report...

Day 13...

Okay my mind was all over the place today - then I saw the lunch lady action figure on our lunch ladies desk...LOL right? I have never used the phrase LOL before but somehow it just works here. Am I fading into popular culture, who knows anymore? I just know this was one of the funnest things I have seen in a while, it comes complete with a hair net.

Monet

I think one of the things I have been struggling with is the fact that I love working on my blog, almost as much as I love painting and Zentangle. But I am not really sure anyone is out there reading it? Am I just doing all this work to make my aunt notice me (it's a childhood issue I have-by the way my aunt raised me after my mother died). Or am I really trying to help other art teachers with their own quest to become better teachers? Do I feel the need to drive myself into the ground to prove my own worth or am I good at what I do and would like to share it with others?

This is where my mind has been lately.  I have learned or maybe just figured out that I have to do what makes me happy. I can not be someone I am not. Of course it has taken me my whole life to come to this epiphany. If you try to seek out what makes others happy you will spend your entire time life looking for something that does not exist. And if you begin to look under the covers of another's life you may find they are not as happy as you may think they are.  This is just gotten way to deep for an art blog. But again, this is were my mind was today. If you look to closely at the Monet all you will see is patches of color. Some times you have to step back and see the big picture to figure out what the whole story is. I am pretty sure most people figure this out when they are much younger! But here I am.

In the actual art room, 1st grade is working on positive and negative space. They will spell their names out one card at a time without coloring inside the letters. Then we will glue them to black paper. This week is soooooo long....I have to give the same rules power point lecture to 25 classes. I am starting to loose my voice. We also have more new students than every before so I can not just say "hey you know the rules, let just do some art today".  Which is what I would much rather do!

  1. I love that action figure!!It made me smile!!!
I like reading your blog as I used to teach art and when I was just a classroom teacher, we had art every day! It makes for a happy class to have lots of art. Now I am retired, I play almost every day. I make dolls, wall hangings...but at the moment I am making fabric books.
Apparently LOL is "Old Hat" now.Replaced by Haha!! I prefer "Hehe" myself.
    Cheers

    1. Judy, thank you go for stopping by and chatting on my blog. I have a few years before retirement but I have already picked out 7489 projects I plan to finish then!
