My Daily Art Room Routine....

I started a list of the things I do each day in my art room. I it might be helpful for new teachers and student teacher....or it might scare them...

Monday:
Arrive at school 7:15 am- Get ready for advanced art club.
7:30 am Advanced Art Club
8:45 am Car rider duty...yes that is what I said, Car Rider Duty. Not a class I took in college but something you will just have to get use to, even if it's -10 degrees outside.
9 am Take any money or notes to the office that I have received and try to pee (it will be my last chance for 3 hours).
9:15 2nd Grade
10:00 3rd Grade Yes you read that right, there is no break between classes.

I have a basket shelves, which are located to the right of my smart board in this photo. The baskets are arranged in the order the classes come to me and  I have everything I need for that grade level in the baskets. To the left of the smart board I keep a shelf of art supplies. Each table has a manager and the manager is responsible for getting everything that will be needed for the project. 

This system saves time. The managers stay the same all year so I do not have to waste time training a new one. I use to explain that it is no not about who my favorite students is it is about making sure everyone gets everything they need in a fast and efficient way so we can spend more time doing art.

12:00 Planning-Recored morning class grades. Grade and prepare for tomorrow's morning classes 

12:45 5th

1:30  Kinder...why yes moving from 5th to Kinder with no time in between in hard but hanging your mind-set is even more fun! But it can be done and there are worst things in life!

2:15 1st 

3:00 Spot Check...this is a new administrative thing were the encore teachers go into the class room and teach or help teach the core subjects. I will just leave it at that.

3:35 Walker duty....goes along with morning car rider duty!

3:45 1st Year Art Club

5:15 Get ready for the 2nd 1/2 of tomorrow's classes, load the kiln, grade, hang art in the halls and get ready for our upcoming county show.

6:30 leaving for home so the dog does not pee on the floor!

Tuesday:
Arrive at school 7:45 am- Get ready for Zentangle Club.
8 am Zentangle Club
8:45 am Car rider duty...Some mornings it is exciting to meet the kids as they arrive at school. When we have a dress-up day and I am out there dressed as a crazy person...it really is FUN!
9 am Take any money or notes to the office that I have received and try to pee (it will be my last chance for 3 hours).
9:15 2nd Grade
10:00 3rd Grade

Wednesday: 
Arrive at school 7:45 am- Get ready for Staff Meeting
8 am Staff Meeting
8:45 am Car rider duty...Yeah it's pouring down rain...switch into rain boots that I keep at school and my Micky Mouse rain poncho.
9 am Take any money or notes to the office that I have received and try to pee (it will be my last chance for 3 hours).
9:15 2nd Grade
10:00 3rd Grade

10:45am 4th grade

11:30 Lunch-Go get lunch, eat so fast I get the hick-ups, pee.

12:00 Planning-Recored morning class grades. Grade and prepare for tomorrow's morning classes

Thursday:
Arrive at school 7:45 am- get out art supplies for the first 3 classes before lunch (2, 3, 4th grades).
8:45 am Car rider duty...Yeah it's not cold or raining!
9 am Take any money or notes to the office that I have received and try to pee (it will be my last chance for 3 hours).
9:15 2nd Grade
10:00 3rd Grade

6:30-8:30 Adult Zentangle Class....OMG I love teaching this class!!!
8:45 headed home

Friday:

8:00 am Zentangle Class
