Anansi the Trickster Spider and the Ashanti...

First we drew out Anansi's web using a white pencil and a ruler.

Next we looked at patterns in Ashanti Kente cloth.

Then glued the spider web paper to a 12 x 18 sheet of white paper.

This lesson is for an experimental summer school program and we only have 30 mins-start to finish

so I had to precut all the stamps and limit the colors. However  if you have more time you could have the students cut their own sponges in different shapes to match the symbols of the Kente cloth. I also gave them unsharpened pencils to use as dot stamps.

Create a spider using Sharpie and markers, cut it out and use 3Dos to attack the spider to the web.
