Today's Art Room Report

Day 63

Double Rainbow in my back yard

How I feel when I am working on the charity or painting in my studio!

So since I was so sick this weekend I laid on the sofa and finally watched The new Star Wars movie. I cried. It was not so much that it was a great movie (which it was) but that when the original Star Wars came out in 1977 my mother was in the hospital dying of breast cancer. I had just turned 13. To take my mind off what was happening My aunt took me and my 2 cousins to see the new space movie that just came out. My mother loved movies and space. The first movie I remember seeing was 2001: a Space Odyssey, I was 4. My aunt and cousins and I stood in a line that wrapped around the building in Texas heat to see a movie that changed my life. My mother died a month later and I stared out at the stars for the next few years waiting for whatever was out there to come get me and take me home. I felt I was different from everyone else because I did not have parents. I wanted to be an astronomer because I wanted to know what was out there. I started off in college to study the stars. The Awakening reminded me of how I felt when I was 13... In a good way.

I know it's not nice but I can't stop the voices in my head when someone (especially Hubby) is crunching! I don't really wish them dead just want to scratch and shred them like a cat!

Just wanted to give a shout out to our night janitor, Gloria who keeps my art room so very, very clean!

She even cleaned the spray bottle...that thing was covered in clay!

Yes please!

No truer words have very been put on a school marque sign!

One of my 3rd grade art journal prompts is to take a random Pictionary card then pick a word and write a sentence with that word. Next students illustrate the sentence they wrote in their art journal....they had no idea what a pay phone was! I had to Google images of a pay phone and they still did not get the concept at first.
Boy do I feel old!

I swear no matter what time of the day I park and walk over to the Candy Factory in Manassas...there is always a train blocking me!

No truer words have every been written on a meme!

  1. Morning just loved your blog today. It brought me back to when my late Dad took me to see 2001 A Space Odyssey... I think I must have been somewhat older than 4 :)

Thank you for your blog today as it has brought me down to thinking about those important times.
