Classroom Procedures Flowchart...

At a staff meeting we were all asked to create a classroom procedures flowchart. At first I went "yuck, more work" but then I realized this is the greatest thing ever!!!

It is simple and easy to make...I used Power Point because that is what I was in at the moment. Fell free to download it for idea inspiration.

I had them laminated, one for each table. If someone is not sure what to do next the manager of that table will hand them a flowchart. It has changed my world!

    1. Ingrid...so for it has been fantastic! Hopefully it is not like most things that fade as the kids get use to it! I have given on to each table manager and when someone does not know what to do next the manager hands it to them.

  3. Let me just say, I LOVE your flow chart. This is all the information that I find myself repeating over and over during every class all day every day! A few visuals for my younger grades who can't read as well and something like this would be perfect for my room. Thanks so much for sharing. I'll be figuring out how to make one for myself ASAP!

    1. My flow chart was simply made in power point because that is what I had open when I decided to create it. It was very easy. I love your idea of adding photos for the little ones. It has really helped!

    1. Glad to hear it! After you hand it to the kids several times they quit asking "what do I do now"!

  7. How do you enforce 'museum' voices. After 14 years, I still have some groups who can NOT be quiet!

    1. It is always a struggle...as soon as you find something that works they get tired of it and you have to find something else new. I have a sign I hold up that says "Less Talk More Art" and that works most of the time. If it does not work on the other side if that sign is a Monkey holding his ears that says "TOO LOUD". Some times if it is very loud and I don't seem to be able to get a handle on it I say "the quietest, most hard working table gets a fuzzy stick (chenille stems). The kids love them, even 5th grade and they cost next to nothing! Other times I have a 5 min silent art. I start off by saying "respect the silent art" then count down "3...2...1... silent art will now start". I play music for the 5 mins. If someone talks I just look at them and say respect the silent art. No one wants to be the person that talks so it works....for about 5 mins. Dont try to go longer. When the timer goes off I do not say anything and they just continue on with their work.

    1. Just click on the thumbnail and then drag it to your desk top then you can print it as is. I do not have an interactive version of this since everyone's chart will be different. It is very, very easy to create. I just used PowerPoint and then used the shape maker and arrows. I hope this helps. I love the charts. I have one for each table and if they ask me a question they have already asked 1000 time I just ask them to look at the chart!

    2. O.K. Thank you! I tried that but it prints very tiny so I was just going to try to edit yours. If you wouldn't mind sharing the ppt that would be awesome. Here is my email: jrichards@yahoo.com.
Thanks for the idea. I love the flow chart!
