Henri Rousseau-Jungle Parrot 2nd Grade Lesson Plan

This lesson is based on a lesson from an amazing book I got my first year of teaching back in 2005. But on our projects we differ in that we create the parrot on a different sheet of water color paper and then cut it our and use 3Do's to attach the bird. Kids love 3Do's!

You can buy this book on Amazon. It is just as popular today as it was in 2005 when it came out.
I highly suggest this book, especially to new teachers.

Draw a jungle branch and full the page with leaves and flowers. Next out line it with Sharpie and watercolor paint it. I use 12x18 90lb paper.

Create a parrot on watercolor paper, outline it with a Sharpie then paint it with watercolors.
When the bird is dry cut it out and use 3Do's to attach the bird to the jungle paper.
